The Diploma in Christian Education is offered by the Senate of Serampore College (University) for private study. The responsibility for administering the programme is with the Executive Committee under the Senate of Serampore College’s overall supervision.
The Diploma in Christian Education is offered by the Senate of Serampore College (University) as an External Study programme. The course is designed to inspire and challenge lay educators and other church members to rethink the purpose, methods, and role of Christian Education in building up local church congregation. It seeks to help candidates impart their faith experiences in the most inclusive and life-affirming manners in the church and those they come into contact with within their daily lives, in the family, in the workplace, in the neighbourhood, and to the society at large. In this way, people in the local church community can acquire mature and steadfast Christian faith, which is open to celebrating the diversities of life and responsive to the challenges of the day.
Objectives:
- To realise the importance and necessity of having a critical appreciation of Christian Education’s role in the Christian life, as individuals and as a community.
- To explore various forms of imparting Christian Education in formal and non-formal ways in the local community and strengthen such efforts.
- To come up with relevant and creative pedagogy for imparting Christian Education to suit the needs of the local church congregation.
- To relate the concerns and issues raised in the Christian Education subject of theological colleges/seminaries to the local community in appropriate and meaningful manners.
Qualification:
- A candidate should have passed Class XII (10+2) from a recognised Board.
- A pastor or any Christian worker who is involved in Christian education or training peoples in Christian Education.
- A lay leader/educator in the educational ministry of the church.
- Any Church member who is interested in Christian Education.
Requirements for registration:
A candidate is expected to send the “Online Registration” form by 31st October every year prior to commencing the study. The last date for submitting the filled-in application form with the late fee is on or before 15th November. The Registration Form should be submitted along with the following documents.
- A self-attested photocopy of the Academic certificates.
- Church membership certificate
- Birth Certificate
- The required Admission and Registration fees to be sent either by Online or by Demand Draft drawn in favour of the “Senate of Serampore College” payable at Kolkata. It is also possible to pay online.
- The application submitted without any of the above will be rejected.
Orientation Seminar
Orientation Seminar will be organised at the beginning of the year, and all the students must attend the Orientation Seminar. It may be done online.
Medium of Study and Examination:
The medium of study and Examination shall be English or other vernacular languages approved by the Senate.
Duration:
The duration of the course is one year, starting from January to December. The validity of the Registration shall be for two years. If a student could not finish the course in two years, he or she can apply for an extension of time. The Academic Council of the Senate of Serampore College may grant him or her extension for one year. The student would be required to pay the extension of time Fee as per the Fee structure.
Standard of pass and class:
The pass mark in each paper in the Examination for Diploma in Christian Education is 40%.

Results, marks and transcript of record:
- Notification of Results of the Senate examinations with grades obtained will be published on our web site (www.senateofseramporecollege.edu.in)
- Senate office will send the Marksheet (for all), Transcript (Qualified only) of record to the Affiliated College/Sceptre Centre after publishing of result.
